Getaways for Arkansas Women Bloggers {Travel Giveaway}

We mentioned to you recently that we have some incredible upcoming opportunities for our registered “members” of Arkansas Women Bloggers – remember that sunny Saturday sneak peak of the new splash park in Rogers that many of our bloggers participated in while half the state was sweltering?

The neat thing is that it doesn’t cost you a dime (just a few minutes of your time) to join our little community. We don’t ask you to sign up so that we can ping you with crazy telemarketing offers… we do it because Arkansas Women Bloggers is a community, and we aim to constantly gather, grow and connect our community. Plus, the more active bloggers we have involved in our little community, the more amazing things we can do for you! Even more important than registering your blog, though, is being an active participant. We want to see you visiting each other’s blogs, commenting on the site, participating in the link-ups and lifting one another up.

Here’s a great example of one of the opportunities we can make available to you: in just a few short weeks, five of our member bloggers will be participating in an amazing #RogersAR Getaway Weekend! These lucky ladies will be pampered and spoiled by the Rogers Convention & Visitors Bureau (www.VisitRogersArkansas.com), a very forward-thinking tourism promotion organization that understands the value of bloggers better than any other government organization we’ve run across in the entire state!

Our participating #RogersGetaway bloggers will attend a private artist gallery reception in historic downtown Rogers, take a sailing trip on Beaver Lake, visit the awesome new Rogers Aquatics Center and the retro Daisy Airgun Museum for ideas for their own family mini-vacations in Rogers, attend a Rogers Little Theater dinner and performance in the 1927 Victory Theater, shop and be treated to special goodies at Pinnacle Hills Promenade and even indulge in a special spa treatment package!

Yes, we are totally sharing this to make all of you insanely jealous so that you will pay attention, here, ladies! This #RogersGetaway is a pilot program, and we have other similar getaways planned in the near future! So, how do you get in on the action? Here are a few ways:

  • Register for #AWBU! We will be telling you more about how bloggers can work with tourism organizations like the Rogers CVB at our upcoming conference on September 6 – 8. So, register now!
  • Make sure your blog is correctly listed in our directory and be active on the site! (Echo, echo, echo…) this is how we choose bloggers for these opportunities!
  • Follow the #RogersGetaway channels! Like Rogers on Facebook, follow @VisitRogersAR and the hashtags above on Twitter and check out the Visit Rogers Arkansas website, blog, Instagram and Pinterest channels!

Between July2 and August 31, you can earn a chance to win your own family getaway package, and we’ll announce the winner at the conference. Plus, our five participating bloggers are going to have some other #RogersAR goodies to give away (hint: how does a giftcard to shop at Pinnacle Hills Promenade sound?), so you’ll want to be in the loop. Simply visit the link below to enter this giveaway via Rafflecopter.

We’re so glad you’re part of the Arkansas Women Bloggers community – THANK YOU and good luck!

From a Central Arkansas Girl perspective, Rogers has a lot to offer. We spend several weekends a year traveling to visit Hobbs State Park for pleasure and for trail run races like the War Eagle Tail Twister and for the great mountain biking in the area with Hobbs, Slaughter Pen and Blowing Springs. And then I get to clean up, get pretty and have nice meals, shop or visit museums. Yep. Lots to do.

I would love to visit their new splash park! I have two little girls who would adore it!

As for commenting, I read every single day and try to comment often. I’m going to be honest-I’m a newish member to this site and feel funny being the new kid on the block and one of the few who ever comments.

Eeek, was that rude?! I hope not, I didn’t mean for it to be. I’m ready and willing to be involved but don’t want to be the only one! (especially since I haven’t met any of you in person yet).

Great job on building community and I look forward to getting to know some of you in real life! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

        Gina,
I want to!!! Still trying to see if it will work out for me. Having the two little ones make time and money a little more sparse :). But fingers crossed! (and I really want to meet you if I do make it!)

    • Sara, I am so glad you are here! Well, it only takes one to get the ball rolling on comments, step out, be brave, and if you are the only one, that is alright, I will see it!. At ARWB, we have a lot of great content to help you as a blogger and to meet other incredible blog gals in our state. Also, for all these great opportunities that are starting to come our way, the only way I know who you are to invite you is to be involved and commenting. I hope you can make it to the conference! There’s still SO many places in Arkansas that I haven’t been able to explore. Rogers is one of them πŸ™‚

  4. Hi!
From a rather southern Arkansas viewpoint, with all the rest of my family in northern Missouri, I must say that we really like Rogers because it is not a traffic bottleneck! πŸ˜€
Must stop, someday, and get to know it. πŸ™‚

And, Sara T., I am newish too, and I also think we are supposed to comment here, and it does feel odd being one of the few. I know what you mean. πŸ˜‰

Even though I live in NWA there are some places in Rogers that I have never been to including the Daisy museum and House of Webster store. Crazy since I’ve lived here for almost 10 years!

Maybe we could get a monthly post and/or email that announces new members each month? I see several comments on this post alone from ladies I’ve never “met”. I think it would be great to introduce us to the newbies each month? I’d be happy to help in any way I can.

    • hmmm…maybe I will start a “Get to Know Your Arkansas Bloggy Neighbor Gals” post. Each month, the gals that have been active in the community will be included in a post with a short bio/quote with their blog address. There are now 438 members, so even though the new ones should be introduced, we can not forget those gals who have been around here supporting and lifting up this community. What do you think? You want to take that on Karen?

I’ve been asking members to check their membership listing on the web page. I haven’t gotten any responses; perhaps you have. I think it would be nice to include actual names and twitter handles as well if the members want those shown.

Some of the links are no longer active so some house cleaning is in order after conference:)

Wow, I did not know there was so much to do in Rodgers.. I’d love to shop in downtown area.

What a great idea! Do you know how many times I’ve been in conversation with people lately where we discussed the fact that there are so many places in Arkansas we have yet to discover. We keep meaning to get there but either forget when we’re planning an adventure or we don’t know to even look into certain towns or places. Rogers is a great way to kick this off. I’ve become a real fan of Rogers in the last few years after lots of years of not knowing much about it.

  9. Wow! What a great opportunity! I’ve only been to Rogers once but I had a great time. I was there last year for a work conference. There was this gas station that had the best ice cream. Would love to win a trip back to visit!

  10. We each know the secret great places to eat in our own locales. We should share all that with the world. How many times have we stopped at a cafΓ© only because we could find it, and been disappointed in the fare? Why not KNOW where each of us would go, so we can have a great time when we’re just passing through? Some of us travel a lot. This would be so helpful…

Rogers sounds like a great get-away place with something everyone would enjoy. I think I’m needing the spa treatment!
