Some really good advice. I wish I had been more aware of organizing, etc. before I started. It took me a bit of time to get my boards organized the way that they were useful to me. Even now, I review them periodically to check where I pinned some ideas. (Do you ever wonder why you placed a pin on a particular board. Must have been sleep deprivation:) I have more boards than I probably need, but they suit me presently. Setting up the bookmarklet on my Iphone, Ipad, and PC were not as clear as on the Mac. One thing I have started doing more and more is going directly to the original source. I have found that sometimes a pretty picture leads to a spam site, etc. Also, sometimes I really am not interested in all that a particular pin is discussing. By going to the original source, I can be more specific as to what I want. One last thing that you did not ask for (but I’m always full of advice — 30.5 years of teaching). I really don’t like for people to post entire recipes on the pin…just give me a link to go to. Also (okay, THE last), it took me awhile to learn that you really do need to give a specific description of the pin…not just “beautiful room, etc.” The description needs to be briefly informative.
P.S. I should have done this from the beginning, but I always try to give credit to the original site e.g. @ country outfitters, etc.

Keep up the great work. I appreciate you.

One bit of advice I have is to pin directly from the *post* if you’re pinning from a blog – not from their “home page”. That way, when you decide to make that awesome Pine Cove bacon, you’re taken directly to Amanda’s post with the recipe and not the homepage of her blog…where you’d then have to search for the recipe.

Before I repin from someone else, I click their pin to make sure it goes directly to the page of interest and not someone’s homepage. If it goes to the homepage (blog, website) then I won’t repin from them. If it goes directly to the post of interest, then I’ll repin. It’s a little tedious, but I don’t want one of my followers repinning something from me that doesn’t take them where they want to go.

Some excellent points Gina! I’m planning to do a Pinterest Etiquette post as a wrap up and will touch on some of these points!
