Twelve Confessions of a New Blogger

Hi, My name is Kelsie.  I live in Central Arkansas and blog at www.pinkandrick.com.  I started blogging this year.  I’m shocked that it’s already one of my favorite hobbies.  In full disclosure, my journey into blogging isn’t always smooth, so I wanted to share these confessions of a new blogger.  I hope you can relate!

1.  I’ve switched topics ten times in six months.

2.  I have to take twenty pictures, to get one that looks good enough to post.

3.  If I’m in a conversation that isn’t about blogging… I tune out.

4.  When something funny happens I automatically think, “how can I turn this into a blog post?”

5.  Family members say things like, “Don’t put this on your blog.”

6.  Sometimes I have to take really close up pictures… because my house is messy and I don’t want everyone to see.

7.  When I read a really good blog post, I instantly think, “I wish I wrote that!”  Even if the topic is the about a couple’s honeymoon…

8.  One of my biggest dilemmas is, “should I switch to WordPress?”

9.  I need to go to rehab for obsessively checking my blog traffic.

10.  My husband just walked by and said, “you need to quit!”  He’s just joking… I hope.

11.  When I refer to,”my readers,” I’m usually just referring to my mom.

12.  I’m so excited to find Arkansas Women Bloggers!

I’m so impressed by the work Arkansas Women Bloggers is doing, and I’m glad to be a part of it.  Now that I’ve shared my secrets, do you have any confessions?  Come on, we’re all friends!

Hi! My name is Kelsie.  I live, work, and play in Central Arkansas.  I started my blog six months ago after my sister, who lives in another state, wanted to read about my two crazy dogs (who tear up everything).  Since then, my blog has documented my DIY projects, personal finance goals, and marriage.  I hope you’ll stop by and say hi!  I’d love to find some bloggers in Arkansas to follow and occasionally ask for advice.

Love it! By the way, the whole “don’t put this on your blog thing” from family doesn’t get better, HA! I finally asked my mom why she thought people who read my blog would want to read about her personal life.

My blog is also kind of random (and I DO use WordPress! Self hosting is awesome). I tried to narrow the focus but then I would need a new blog for every topic and that seemed dumb so I just lump it all together.

    Welcome!

Welcome Kelsie. I am also in Central Arkansas – most of the time. I’m also in NWA – most of the time. Go figure:) I am in Benton. We all started sometime…some of us (not me) better than others. I’m looking forward to exploring your blog.

  3. Hello, Kelsie,
Tried to post at your place to no avail. So here is my content:

Congratulations on deciding to follow a GOOD plan (Get Out Of Debt plan)! I sincerely hope you make it with flying colors. I can tell you, from having been there, “It is worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears. Truly. There is nothing like freedom, and no place or time like HERE AND NOW for it.” 🙂

In case you were wondering, that means, “Get in the truck, already!” 😉

      Katherine,

I’m in (for now)! Your comment made my husband laugh. Very good to hear from you. I can’t wait to check out your blog.

You’re not alone in changing topics. I actually started blogging in 2005. I have switched from Blogger, to Vox, to WordPress, and back to Blogger. THEN, after I had my daughter in February I decided to shutter my old blog and start and all-new blog where I keep things a bit more private. I also have a blog for MY two dogs, but I don’t update it very often anymore, because of said daughter taking so much time. I’m right with you on almost all of your points, except for the Mom one. Welcome to the blogging world!

      Adrienne,

I feel for you trying to balance being a mom and a blogger…and every other role we try to fulfill! Thanks for the warm welcome. I’d love to read about your dogs!

Love this post! I feel your pain. I have been blogging for two years and still have problems with pictures and formatting. Also, still trying to overcome my ‘Blog’ addiction!

  6. I love this. Especially the part about taking pictures up close because the house is messy. It is wonderful. I do the same thing. I will start to post something but have to get up 5 times to move things out of the way. lol Love it. Keep writing, you are great. 🙂

    • Kelsie says:

Thanks Pam! Glad to know I’m not the only one who has to manipulate her house for pictures. I laughed when I read you have to get up five times to move things…Been there!
